"The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities."
James Allen
Welcome,
It is with great enthusiasm that I assume the role as founding Head of School of the Academy of St. Joseph, Washington Place. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the dedicated faculty, staff, parents and students who share and are committed to the exciting mission of the Academy of St. Joseph.
The future of the church and of our world lies in the hearts and the minds of our young people, and no where is that future better supported than by this academy. It is our goal to foster in our young people a desire to be all that they can be. In doing so, we live out our shared responsibility to teach our children that each one of us has been called by name to live in a significant way; a way that will provide service, and a way that will help to create a better world.
As a school community, we must work together to foster within our students a deep desire to be a people of character, of competence and of compassion. We will achieve this not only in the lessons that are taught from our books, but also in those that are taught by our personal examples and by the examples of the great leaders of all time.
Our goal is to provide our students with experiences that will encourage them to excel at what they do, to embrace a cause or belief with passion and intelligence, and to always strive to treat people with respect and dignity.
On behalf of the community of the Academy of St. Joseph, I extend a warm invitation to you to come visit our school. It is with much enthusiasm, hope and faith that we now begin the history of the Academy of St. Joseph.
Kindly,
Angela M Coombs,
Head of School
