The Academy of St. Joseph will follow Essential Learnings as developed by the Archdiocese of New York.  The Essential Learnings incorporate New York State Standards.  The curriculum is based on the acquisition of core skills and competencies.  Students are challenged to become critical thinkers and collaborative problem-solvers. 

The learning environment fosters opportunities for students to ask questions, to explore their thinking, to take risks and to make informed decisions.  Students will be involved in class projects that will support their development as confident, competent, and collaborative learners.

All learning experiences will allow students to develop skills that are foundational for lifelong learning, well-being and social development.  It is understood that all learning experiences should be challenging and engaging with the purpose of building confidence, a love for learning, a thirst for knowledge and wisdom, and a strong foundation for the future intellectual, physical and social development of our students.

The core curriculum will be enriched with an emphasis on the humanities.  French will be taught twice a week beginning in Pre-Kindergarten.  Italian will be introduced this year with instruction in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, once a week.
