Technology
You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” ― Buckminster Fuller, futurist thinker and designer
At the Academy of St Joseph, technology serves three major purposes. We study technology for the lessons it can provide in and of itself, and utilize technology as a vehicle for presenting our ideas. In addition, technology supports design thinking, which serves as a method for problem-solving and conceptualizing challenges in new ways.
AOSJ integrates the use of technology into the learning process through both formal instruction and organic use of technological processes and devices throughout the school day. In age-appropriate lessons, students learn how to code, format, and use various components of Microsoft Office in Technology class once per week. They are encouraged to employ what they learn through the integration of technology and design thinking in all subjects. Students in the Early Childhood Program and Lower School have one-to-one iPads for school use. In the Upper School, students have one-to-one Chromebooks for school use. All classrooms at the Academy are equipped with Smart Boards.
