Challenge, Rigor, Success
All children start their school careers with sparkling imaginations, fertile minds, and a willingness to take risks with what they think. – Sir Ken Robinson, Education Expert
At the Academy of St. Joseph, we take pride in our ability inspire imagination, challenge minds, and support fearless inquiry as our students take the intellectual and emotional risks that enhance thier intellectual and emotional development. We challenge students through a rigorous and enriched curriculum. We encourage our students to become critical thinkers, collaborative problem solvers, and global citizens.
Our explorations of English, mathematics, science, history and the social sciences, Spanish, religion, technoligy, the arts, and athlectics are all taught in a challenging yet nurturing environment that fosters critical thinking, skill develpment, and collaborative learning.
We encourage students to ask questions, question their own assumptions, discuss and debate with teachers and colleagues, and learn to use new evidence to develop nuanced perspectives on important ethical and social issues. Opportunities for project-based learning encourage students to extend their knowledge and discover applications in and outside of the classroom. We utilize the City of New York through field trips that enhance real-world understanding.
We help students to develop the skills they need to engage in high order thinking. These skills are foundational for lifelong learning, well-being, and social development. At the Academy of Saint Joseph, we challenge and engage our students to help them build their confidence, love of learning, and a strong foundation for their future intellectual, physical, and social development so that they will embody our values of character, competence, and compassion.
